Being in wellness, I often encounter common themes. Lately, personal choice has been front and center. But what does that mean, and why is it so important?
For me, personal choice was transformative. After my MS diagnosis, it gave me ownership of my journey. It reminded me that there was something I could do—something that could impact my health and contribute to my remission. It empowered me. Taking personal action has transformed my life, and it could do the same for you.
My job, my goal, my mission—if you will—is to inspire personal action in you.
I’m not special; I just took action. Through continued effort, trial, and error, I’ve learned to navigate wellness in a way that works for me.
The beauty of personal action is its accessibility. It’s something each of us can do. It also builds accountability, which is essential to well-being.
You, too, can make new choices, advocate for yourself, and find your own unique path to wellness. That’s the power of taking control. The information is out there—it’s up to you to sift through it, try things, and make decisions that meet your needs. And when you get stuck, as always, seek support.
You are the alchemist of change in your life.
Waiting for something or someone else to initiate change often leads to disappointment or feeling stuck. Instead, ask yourself, “What can I do to change, improve, or adapt to the situation?” There’s always a way, even if it’s just a small, simple step.
Taking action may come with inconveniences—it requires choices, sacrifices, and sometimes pushing through discomfort. But in the end, these experiences foster growth. Change takes shape in the doing, even if just one small step at a time.
I hope this post inspires you to take one small action toward your well-being!
P.S… On a recent trip to Miami, someone in our group was reading a book that caught my interest. Since then, I’ve been listening to it, and it’s fantastic! I’ve linked it below:
The Mindful Body by Ellen J. Langer (also author of Mindfulness).
PPS… In case you missed it, I also just shared a Slow Cooker Chili Recipe, you can find it here.
Wishing you all well!
I love this reminder -- agency. It's easy to trip from one thing to another. So helpful to be reminded to pull over, think, decide. Thanks for this.
